36 civilians were reportedly killed on Wednesday after an unidentified plane bombed a Nigerian border village. Daily Times reports.
This happened on the same day the Nigerian army killed 300 Boko Haram militants and recovered 11 communities hitherto under the terror sect's control.
A military source said: “we don’t know whose plane it was. We understand that the victims are residents who were gathered for a funeral ceremony but who were mistaken for terrorists. Around 30 people perished."
Air Commodore Dele Alonge, spokesman for the Nigerian airforce has come out to deny the incident, saying: “there has not been any report from our people of such an incident."
