Not much has been heard from Patience Jonathan, after the defeat of President Goodluck Jonathan at the March 28, the First Lady, who is usually actively participating in the political life of the country.
One of those who visited GEJ to commend him for conceding the defeat, disclosed to The Punch that the president’s wife also hosted guests in the presidential villa.
“After meeting the President in the new Banquet Hall located within the premised of his office, I also visited the First Lady inside the President’s residence before leaving. She was in high spirit when I met her.”
However, since then Dame Patience has not been seen in public. ‘Mama Peace’ did not attend any of the the Easter services with her spouse, which was an extraordinary development.
Thus, officially, Mrs Jonathan was SEEN on March, when she went to the polling unit in Otuoke, Bayelsa state, to vote.
It is alleged that Jonathan’s wife might have left the country for the United Kingdom to sort out some domestic issues.
A presidency source said:
“She is in UK. She may use the opportunity of the trip to visit her children.”
The last weeks’ unofficial reports suggested that Dame Patience had already started moving out of the villa, as a truck packed with personal belongings was spotted driving out of the residence.
It should be noted that after Muhammadu Buhari’s victory the First Lady through her aide congratulated his wife, Aisha Buhari, and urged Nigerian women to fully cooperate with her."
