                  Ondo State Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, mocked the All Progressives Congress (APC) “change” slogan and expressed confidence that the opposition would fail in 2015.
               The politician said this December 26 during his visit to Ado-Ekiti.

“We want APC leaders to explain to Nigerians the change they shout all over. Are they saying the country should change from democracy to dictatorship? This is necessary because their leaders, by their actions, have not shown that they are democratic elements.”

 The Edo State Police Command of the Nigeria Police Force has declared a manhunt for a suspected witness of a dastardly murder that was likely committed in the early hours of Christmas Day.

2,146 Companies Certified To Bid For FG Contracts In 2014 - PenCom

The National Pension Commission (PenCom) says it certified a total of 2,146 companies to bid for Federal Government contracts this year after they provided evidence of compliance with provisions of the Pension Reform Act 2004.

According to the commission, this is a good development as they issued the compliance certificate to only 1,163 employers in 2013, while 852 and 559 firms were issued the certificates in 2011 and 2012 respectively.

S'Africa Welcomes 108 Christmas Babies

                      More than 100 babies were born in Gauteng, South Africa, on Christmas Day, the provincial health department said on Thursday.

Spokesman Prince Hamnca said a total of 108 babies were born in the province.

Mamelodi Hospital and Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital each delivered 14 babies, while Dr George Mukhari Academic Hospital and Kalafong Hospital delivered 11 each.

Mystery Fire Guts Hospital, Burns Doctor To Death

                   Thursday was a black Christ­mas for residents of Oke Ibukun Street, off Araromi area in Akure, the Ondo state capital as a medical doctor, David Ade­tayo Oguntuase was burnt to death in his own private clinic.

Residents who con­firmed the news said the incident occurred around 12:30 when neighbors had already gone to bed.
Oguntuase died at his Universal Medical Clinic (Specialist Children Clin­ic) after the fire caught him unawares in his pri­vate office, inside the hos­pital. The body of the doctor was seen burnt be­yond recognition as rescu­ers who ran to the scene wept profusely and uncon­trollably.

Police Kill Four Armed Robbers In Shoot Out Along Kano-Zaria Road

Four suspected armed robbers have been confirmed dead following an encounter with the Police along Kano-Zaria road.

Addressing a news conference, the state Police Commissioner, Aderinle Shinaba, said that the robbers were in the process of wrecking havoc while people were celebrating Christmas.

The robbers were operating at Kwanar Dan-Gora, some 30 Kilometers away from Kano, while people were celebrating Christmas.

                       The deadly Ebola virus crisis in Sierra Leone has cancelled Christmas celebration for some people.
The government has declared lockdown of at least three days in the north of the country to try to contain the epidemic.
Shops, markets and non-Ebola related travel services will be shut down, officials said.

Muslims and Christians are not allowed to hold services in mosques and churches throughout the lockdown except for Christians on Christmas Day.

          A Christmas Eve shooting left one person dead at a mall in suburban New Orleans, and police say a suspect is in custody.

Jefferson Parish Sheriff Newell Normand says it happened about 4:21 p.m. Wednesday, less than two hours before the Oakwood Center mall in Gretna was scheduled to close for the holiday.

Normand says the victim had just purchased something from Foot Locker and had turned from the cash register when a man walked to within three or four feet of him and began shooting.

CDC reports potential Ebola exposure in Atlanta lab

            One scientist may have been exposed to the Ebola virus and as many as a dozen others are being assessed for potential exposure at a lab of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, agency officials said Wednesday.

The potential exposure took place Monday when scientists conducting research on the virus at a high-security lab mistakenly transferred a sample containing the potentially infectious virus to another CDC lab, also in Atlanta on the CDC campus.

4months Old Baby Crushed To Death After Falling Off Mom’s Back In Delta

                    A 4-months old baby girl had died after she fell off her mother’s back while she was struggling to adjust the wrapper with which she strapped the baby to her back, while the motorcycle she was travelling in was still in motion.
                      The baby fell on the middle of the road and a truck conveying crates of soft drinks which was directly behind them crushed her to death immediately.
