Supreme Court Upholds Seriake’s Candidature In 2012 Polls

Bayelsa State Governor, Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson has described the Supreme Court ruling striking out a suit challenging his candidature of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the 2012 Governorship election, as a victory for democracy, the rule of law, the government and people of Bayelsa State.
Speaking shortly, after the unanimous decision of the Justices of the Supreme Court in Abuja led by Justice Sylvester Ngwuta, Governor Dickson extolled the Nation’s judiciary for its uprightness and firmness, noting that, it has remained a dependable and reliable component of Nigeria’s democracy.

Maiduguri Bombing: Nigerian Military Vow To Avenge Killings

The Nigerian Military has reacted to the Maiduguri bomb attacks with a vow to avenge the killings.

APC Marching For Corruption In Lagos – Adeyeye

The Minister of State for Works, Dayo Adeyeye, has described the one-million-man march held in Lagos on Saturday by the All Progressives Congress (APC) as shameful.

In a statement issued on Saturday and made available to pressmen in Ado Ekiti, the Minister said that the march was in support of corruption and the massive looting of Lagos State by the APC leader, Senator Bola Tinubu.

The YDP secured a court victory over INEC on Wednesday when a Federal High Court in Abuja ordered the inclusion of the party in the general elections.

Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commision (INEC) on Saturday reported that an individual had presented a cloned Permanent Voter Card (PVC) to be verified during the card reader test in Port Harcourt, Rivers state.

INEC on Saturday began testing card readers that would be used for voter accreditation during the 2015 general elections, in 12 states, spread across six geo-political zones.

At Least 15 Dead As Bomb Blasts Hit In Maiduguri

At least 15 people died on Saturday in Maiduguri following multiple explosions which rocked the troubled Nigerian northeast capital of Borno state, residence and a security source said.

Islamic State militants have destroyed ancient remains of the 2,000-year-old city of Hatra in northern Iraq, the tourism and antiquities ministry said on Saturday.

Shell Has No Timeline For Nigeria Oil Well Restart After Leak

Shell has no timeline to restart the Seibou 2 wellhead it closed in Nigeria that in January after it leaked 550 barrels of crude oil, a spokeswoman said on Friday.
The company said it closed the well, which is operated by Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria (SPDC), roughly 15 hours after the leak was detected.
