Ukraine Fighting Continues as Talks Stall

                      Envoys representing Ukraine, Russia and a European monitoring group opened a new round of cease-fire talks on Saturday aimed at ending a two-week-old flare-up in violence in the Ukraine war.

The talks have been halting. Plans to start on Friday fell through when no senior officials showed up in Minsk, the capital of Belarus, where the negotiations are being held.
It was unclear how much could be done to tamp down violence and head off new sanctions; although a Russian envoy arrived for the talks, Russian-backed separatist leaders did not.

So Sad! Whitney Houston's Daughter ''Bobbi Kristina'' Found Unconscious in a Bath Tub (Photo)

                         Whitney Houston's daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown has been found unconscious in a bath tub today. According to WSB-TV,the 21-year-old was discovered by her husband Nick Gordon and a friend who began CPR before police took over as they awaited an ambulance.
                         Bobbi  was pictured being wheeled out of the house on a stretcher.

She appeared to be still unconscious and slumped over as paramedics lifted her into an ambulance.
The unresponsive reality TV star was immediately transferred to North Fulton Hospital where she is still being treated in ICU.
                      Bobbi's mother,Whitney was found dead in a bath tub almost three years ago at the Beverly Hills Hilton Hotel.

The APC had declared last thursday that they won’t participate in the planned debate due to it being organized by BON because the organisers are allegedly supporters of the PDP.

Islamic State says beheads Japanese hostage - monitoring group

                  Islamic State militants released a video on Saturday which purported to show the beheading of Japanese journalist Kenji Goto, who the al Qaeda offshoot had been holding hostage.

Reuters could not immediately verify the video, which showed a hooded man standing over Goto with a knife held to his throat, followed by footage of a body with a head placed on it.

AirAsia captain left seat before jet lost control: sources

                           The captain of the AirAsia jet that crashed into the sea in December was out of his seat conducting an unusual procedure when his co-pilot apparently lost control, and by the time he returned it was too late to save the plane, two people familiar with the investigation said.

Ebola Evacuation For Worker After Needle Jab

                    A British military healthcare worker has been evacuated from Sierra Leone after suffering a needle injury while treating Ebola patients.

The worker has returned to England for monitoring, according to Public Health England (PHE).

The patient was flown back to RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire on Friday night and then transferred to the Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead.
The worker's next of kin has been informed, according to PHE.

                      Mr Dennis Idahosa, Commissioner for Investment and Public/Private Partnership in Edo, on Friday, defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Idahosa joined the PDP along with some leaders of the APC in Ovia South West Local Government Area of the State.
Idahosa, who was received into the PDP by the state Chairman, Mr Dan Orbih, said his defection was a prelude to his resignation as commissioner, which he said would follow soon.

3 Billion Naira Fund: Post-election Violence Victims Accuse Committee Of Sharp Practices

                        Some victims of the 2011 post-election violence in Kaduna State, who were excluded from the list of beneficiaries of the three billion Naira Federal Government Assistance Fund have accused the committee saddled with the responsibility of disbursing the fund of sharp practices.

The said that the committee deliberately removed a large number of them from the list of beneficiaries.
The Federal Government released the money just three weeks ago for onward disbursement to those affected by the crisis.

Supreme Court Quashes Charges Of Terrorism Against Lebanese

                       The Supreme Court has set aside the ruling of the appellate court affirming the conviction of Ahmed Talal Roda, a Lebanese accused of Terrorism and Conspiracy, to store fire arms at a residence in Kano State, Nigeria.

The court said that the Federal High Court should not have tried the accused because it lacked jurisdiction to hear the case since the alleged crime was not committed in Abuja.

                        Ahead of February general elections in Nigeria, the All Progressives Congress (APC) women presidential campaign initiative has brought together all the female leaders of the party in Kaduna State to a sensitisation workshop, aimed at ensuring a violent free election and also deliver the candidacy of General Muhammadu Buhari, as the next President of Nigeria.

Delta Air Lines pilot locked out of cockpit for Las Vegas landing

                       A Delta Air Lines Inc jet ended its flight from Minneapolis to Las Vegas on Thursday with its captain locked out of his cockpit, the airline said.

The pilot, who was not identified, left the cockpit prior to the final landing approach of Delta Flight 1651 but "was not able to re-enter the flight deck because of a door jam," the airline said in a statement explaining the mishap.
The first officer of the plane, which was carrying 160 passengers, took control and landed the aircraft safely at McCarran International Airport, without further incident, the airline said.

Camilla Lisanti’s parents are both cancer researchers at Manchester University. Over dinner, her father, Michael, asked her how she would cure the disease, and she suggested using antibiotics, “like when I have a sore throat.”

Death Row: Group Advocates Mutual Legal Agreement With Asian Countries

                                 The Citizens Advocacy for Social and Economic Rights (CASER) has called on the Federal Government to enter into Mutual Legal Agreement (MLA) with Asian countries, to prevent further execution of Nigerians.

Mr Frank Tiete, the Executive Director of CASER, made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Abuja.
He said that Nigerians on death row on drug-related offences in Indonesia and other Asian countries could be saved via such a treaty

Folarin told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that cargo coming to Nigeria might not necessarily be meant for the country but could be for other landlocked nations which decided to use Nigerian ports.

Rap Mogul 'Suge' Knight Arrested For Fatal LA Hit-And-Run

                         Death Row Records founder Marion "Suge" Knight was arrested early Friday on a murder charge in a fatal hit-and-run.


Knight was arrested at about 3 a.m. and was being held on $2 million bail, said Sgt. Diane Hecht of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's information office. She said he is being held at the West Hollywood sheriff's station.
Knight had turned himself into authorities early Friday. His attorney said the rap mogul accidentally ran over and killed a friend and injured another man as he fled attackers.

The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) stated this in its daily publication, `Shipping Position,’ made available to newsmen in Lagos.
According to the document, six of the ships arrived the ports with rice, while four others sailed into the ports with general cargo and containers.
