                 Halima Abubakar has once again opened up on her past and talked about having suicidal thoughts.

In an interview she granted Punch, she said that when she got broke, she was tired of life and how people lied with her name coupled with betrayal .


She said: “There were a lot of things that were wrong with me and led to my depression. I was angry, broke, people lied against me and they were also using my name to lie. I was deceived by the people I loved. I was seriously broke at the time and I had lots of responsibilities.

An online portal, the Insidegames on Saturday said that the 70-year- old Maslakov offered his resignation after a German television documentary that reported a systematic doping within the team.
According to the portal, the coach came on board as the head of Russian athletics team in 2007 with a coaching career spanning to 40 years.

Obama To Cut Short India Visit, Fly To Saudi Arabia

                  U.S. President Barack Obama will cut short his visit to India on Tuesday to fly to Saudi Arabia following the death of King Abdullah, sources in the Indian capital familiar with the matter said on Saturday,Reuters reports.


The White House could not immediately be reached for comment. Obama was due to arrive in New Delhi on Sunday for a three-day trip, and will attend the Republic Day parade at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

                    The fate of Kenji Goto and Haruna Yukawa – the two hostages held by Islamic State (Isis) – remains unknown, after the deadline for paying a $200m (£133.4m) ransom expired.

The Islamist organisation has not made any announcement after the deadline ended Friday afternoon local time.
Japanese officials continue their efforts in seeking a safe release of the captives.
Yasuhide Nakayama, the senior Japanese diplomat who is overseeing the operation, told reporters that the Japanese government remains "focused on gathering information and combing through it. We in the government will pull through this together and put priority on saving human lives".

"It's something that we can do. It's absolutely something we can do," he added.

"I think as it is we are in good shape to address the issue with those partners, Niger, Chad and Cameroon," he added.

U.S., Iraq Prepare Offensive To Retake Mosul From Islamic State

                             The U.S. and Iraq have begun preparations for an assault by summer to retake Mosul, selecting and training military units and cutting supply lines to Islamic State militants who control Iraq’s second-largest city, the top American commander in the Middle East said.

Gen. Lloyd Austin, the head of the military’s Central Command, told The Wall Street Journal that the international campaign against Islamic State has inflicted significant damage. Opposing forces have reclaimed about 300 square miles of territory in Iraq and killed some 6,000 members of the Sunni radical group, eliminating about half its leadership.

Just Five Ebola Cases Left In Liberia, Government Says

                      Liberia, once the epicentre of West Africa's deadly Ebola epidemic, has just five remaining confirmed cases of the disease, a senior health official said on Friday, highlighting the country's success in halting new infections.

The worst Ebola outbreak on record has killed more than 8,600 people in Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone. Earlier this year at the height of the outbreak in Liberia, hospitals without beds for new patients were forced to turn away victims and bodies were left in the streets.

                       In the early hours of Friday at the Ketu end of the popular Ikorodu Road in Lagos unidentified woman and her son lost their lives when a truck crashed into three commercial buses.

Eyewitnesses said that the truck was carrying two fully loaded containers and lost control before ramming into the buses which were picking passengers on the road.

                      The Association of Stockbroking Houses of Nigeria (ASHON) on Friday said that the nation's capital market would experience stability with increased participation of domestic investors.

The ASHON President, Mr Emeka Madubuike, said this in Lagos during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

                           A 31-year-old woman, Omoronike Ishola, on Friday prayed an Alakuko Customary Court in Lagos to dissolve her six-year old marriage over alleged battery and threat to life.
The petitioner, an hair dresser, who lives at 29, Ifalokun Owode St., Ajegunle, a suburb of Lagos told the court that her husband, Wasiu Ishola, is not responsible.
Ishola, however, denied being irresponsible, adding, ``I don't strangle her; I only beat her whenever she grabs my scrotum.
Omoronike had narrated her ordeal in the hands of her Arabic teacher before she met Wasiu.

                     Two Rwandan police officers have been jailed for 20 years for killing an anti-corruption activist who was investigating mineral smuggling from Democratic Republic of Congo.
Gustave Makonene, who worked for anti-graft body, Transparency International, was found dead in July 2013 in Rubavu.
The Judge, Esron Gashyende, said the two men convicted by the court on Friday in Kinshasa, were both police corporals, Isaac Ndabarinze and Nelson Iyakaremye.

                           A woman who has served her rural Kenyan village as a midwife for the past 65 years has returned to primary school along with six of her great-great-grandchildren.

Priscilla Sitienei, 90, is believed to be the oldest primary school pupil in the world. She enrolled at Leaders Vision Preparatory School in the Rift Valley village of Ndalat five years ago, with the intention of finally learning to read and write.

                    The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), Ogun chapter, on Friday appealed to the Federal Government to intensify efforts in tackling incidences of multiple taxation.

                   The Rural Water and Sanitation Initiative, a Non-Governmental Organisation, on Friday urged all stakeholders to provide water and basic sanitation facilities in rural areas to reduce preventable deaths.

Mr Chika Okeke, the organisation’s Executive Director, made the call in Abuja in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

He said that basic water intervention projects were needed as majority of rural areas were worst hit by drinking from unsafe water points.

Section 2 Of Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Reaches 16% Completion - Official

              Mr Nkereuwem Ukpong, the Deputy Director, Federal Highway (South West), Federal Ministry of Works, said the reconstruction work on Section 2 of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway had reached 16 per cent completion.

Ukpong, who is the engineer representative in charge of Section 2 of the expressway, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that other aspects of the reconstruction work so far completed included drains and culverts.
