                                  Fourteen out of the 2,109 Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, screened for HIV in Yobe State, have tested positive to the virus.
                                Those who tested positive, 10 from Nguru and four from Gashua have all been referred to Anti Retroviral Therapy, ART, at the Federal Medical Center, in Nguru for care and treatments.
                                  The screening was carried out by the National Agency for the Control of AIDS & NACA. Its Project Coordinator, Dr Aminu Fikin, disclosed the exercise was designed to reduce and ultimately eliminate the risk of transmission of HIV in the state, he says the exercise also covered Borno and Adamawa States

The Supreme Court of Nigeria has dismissed the appeal filed by a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Umar Ardo, challenging the decision of the Court of Appeal that stopped him from joining in the appeal challenging President Goodluck Jonathan’s eligibility to contest in the 2015 election.

The court dismissed the motion after it was moved by Ardo’s Lawyer, Mr Amuda Kannike, seeking to withdraw the appeal.

The Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Organisation (PDPPCO) on Saturday flayed the attack of the All Progressives Party Presidential Campaign Organisation (APCPCO) on President Goodluck Jonathan's achievements in Nigeria's railway sector, describing it as laughable.

They added that Rotimi Amaechi, an APC governor, perpetrated the only railway hoax in present-day Nigeria.

Gov. Fashola Receives PVC, Faults Polls Rescheduling

Gov. Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State on Sunday, expressed disappointment at the rescheduling of the general elections from Feb. 14 to March 28 and April 11, 2015 by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

He told journalists after collecting his Permanent Voter Card (PVC) at his ward in Surulere Local Government Area, that the change in date for the elections lacked merit.

Dr. Nasir Fagge, ASUU Chairman

President of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Dr Nasir Fagge, has expressed displeasure over the postponement of the general elections, saying there was no justification for it.

Fagge told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that the security issue which the shifting of the polls was predicated on was not sufficient.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had on Saturday night announced the rescheduling of the polls from Feb. 14 and Feb. 28 to March 28 and April 11.

The gunmen that kidnapped Mr Dariye Dafweng, father of Sen Joshua Dariye, in his Mushere village, Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau, on Saturday, have asked for 10 million dollars as ransom.

"We have just confirmed that the kidnappers dropped a letter in which they asked for N10 million dollars,’’ Maj. Gen. Dave Enetie, Commander of the Special task Force (STF), maintaining security in Plateau, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Jos on Sunday.

Small Plane Crashes Into Woods At Tipton Airport

A small plane crashed near Tipton Airport in Anne Arundel County, injuring two people.

The Federal Aviation Administration said a Grumman American AA-1 plane went down in the woods near the runway Sunday afternoon shortly after takeoff at 2 p.m. Sunday. The plane was discovered on its side and leaking fuel.

Rescue crews are currently on the scene, attempting to rescue the occupants. The Anne Arundel County Fire Department said two people were onboard and injured. Their identities and conditions have not been released.

Hajiya Aisha Buhari

The wife of All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Hajiya Aisha Buhari, has called on Nigerians to accept the postponement of the nation's general elections in good faith.

Buhari made the call on Sunday in Gusau, Zamfara, while addressing women groups in the state over the change.

Speaking through the wife of the Zamfara governor, Hajiya Asma'u Yari, she called on women not to be discouraged but be more resolute and remain committed to the party.

President Jonathan has reiterated his commitment on ending his first tenure in office come May 29, 2015. The president made this known through presidential spokesman, Dr. Reuben Abati Sunday.

The United States Secretary of State, Mr. John Kerry, has expressed disappointment over the postponement of the Nigeria’s general elections.
According to Kerry,

Sunday who was paraded along with other suspects for various crimes by the Edo State Police Command, said he was shocked and hurt when the girl told him that their relationship was over.

                           On Saturday, February 7, unknown gunmen attacked a police post in Bade village, Jema’a local government area, Kaduna state, killing at least five policemen.

                         Bade is located on the border between Jaba and Jema’a local government areas along the Kachia-Keffi road.
                        The Police Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent Zubairu Abubakar said he had not got the details of the attack. Mr Abubakar, however, promised to contact his superiors. He could not be reached at the time of filing this report yesterday.

Hong Kong Baby Girl Born 'Pregnant' With Twins Undergoes Operation To Remove Fetuses

A baby girl born to mainland parents in Hong Kong was found to be "pregnant" with two tumors in her abdomen which were later found to be the fetuses of twin babies.
The girl, born in Queen Elizabeth Hospital in November 2010, had to undergo surgery at three weeks old to remove the fetuses.

The fetuses, believed to be of 8 to 10 weeks of gestation, each had four limbs, a spine, rib cage, intestines and anus, but were different in weight.
The two fetuses, one weighing 14.2 grams and the other 9.3 grams, each had an umbilical cord connected to a single placenta-like mass.

These disturbing images show dozens of decomposing bodies found by cops when they entered a crematorium which shutdown a YEAR ago.

Police entered the building after neighbours complained of a bad smell and found the 'perfectly embalmed' corpses which had been prepared for cremation.
The bodies were found abandoned in the crematorium in the Mexican resort of Acapulco, officials say.

                                President Goodluck Jonathan on Saturday said various attacks by Boko Haram in Abuja were planned to extend to parts of the country with the intention of bringing down the nation.
                                   He stated this when he attended the revival service of the Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Movement at its headquarters in Ijesha, Lagos.
                                 “The idea of the group was to start from the centre of the country and then move to bring the whole country down,’’ Jonathan said.

Police Discovers 19 Heavyweight Bombs In Adamawa, Foils Plans To Bomb Bridges

The Police in Adamawa State have averted what could have been a massive bomb attack as operatives defused 19 high-caliber Improvised Explosive Device (IEDs) buried in a bush near Yola, the state capital.
The IEDs could have destroyed a 10-storey building and could wreak havoc within a 200 meter radius, the state police chief, Adaji Gabriel, said Friday.
Adamawa is one of the north eastern states worst affected by Boko Haram insurgents.

After several weeks of political maneuverings by the Presidency, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), associates of President Goodluck Jonathan and even the security agencies, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) last night capitulated and shifted the February 14 presidential/national elections by six weeks.
Also shifted were the governorship/house of assembly polls originally fixed for February 28.
The presidential/national assembly elections will now come up on March 28, followed on April 11 by the governorship/state assembly polls, INEC Chairman Attahiru Jega told reporters in Abuja after separate meetings with Federal and Resident Electoral Commissioners, the political parties and civil society groups in Abuja.
