The Federal Aviation Administration said a Grumman American AA-1 plane went down in the woods near the runway Sunday afternoon shortly after takeoff at 2 p.m. Sunday. The plane was discovered on its side and leaking fuel.
Rescue crews are currently on the scene, attempting to rescue the occupants. The Anne Arundel County Fire Department said two people were onboard and injured. Their identities and conditions have not been released.
Both were taken from the scene via Maryland State Police helicopter.
The Nationals Transportation Safety Board will determine the cause of the crash.
