Toddler Falls 40ft From His Bedroom Window (Graphic Photo)

A one-year-old boy is fighting for his life in hospital after falling nearly 40 feet from his fourth-floor bedroom window.

Joshua Cribben, who turns two in April, remains in an induced coma following the plunge at his family home in Thamesmead, south-east London, on January 9.

He has a number of serious injuries including a fractured thigh, cracked ribs, swelling on the brain, and a fractured cheekbone and eye socket.

Joshua's mother Charlotte Cribben, 27, had just put him and his sisters, Aaliyah-Amina, three, and Destiny, two, to bed when the oldest of the trio screamed:

"Mum, Josh has fallen out of the window."

Ms Cribben ran to the window of her maisonette, where she was met with a horrific sight.

Her youngest child was lying motionless on the doorstep of the house below.
The distraught mother of three raced down to the first-floor block, while calling 999 and screaming for help. She said

"I don't know how long it was for me to get in to that block,I think that was the worst part of my life, knowing he's there and I can't get to him," she continued.I was just thinking my son's dead, my son's dead. I just assumed the worst."Just hearing him make a noise, it was kind of a relief. "I thought I was going to go downstairs and pick up my dead child."

But despite medics' efforts, the youngster remained in an induced coma today, with his family by his side.
