Rihanna has postponed the start of her ‘Anti’ world tour which was due to kick off next weekend, just days after pulling out of the Grammys 2016 with bronchitis.
The show, which was due to launch on Friday, February 26, at San Diego’s Viejas Arena, will now kick off on March 12 in Jacksonville, Florida.
In fact the show’s first eight stops in San Jose, Phoenix, Texas, New Orleans and Atlanta, have all shifted from this month until March and May, the singer’s reps confirmed to Us Weekly in a statement, which cited “production delays” as the reason for the date shifts.
On Monday, Rihanna’s fans (and Late Late Show host James Corden) were left disappointed when the “Umbrella” singer pulled out of her performance at the Grammys at the very last minute.
“Based on Rihanna’s examination, after Grammy rehearsal today, Rihanna’s doctor put her on vocal rest for 48 hours because she was at risk of hemorrhaging her vocal chords,” a statement from the singer read. “The antibiotics she has been on for three days did not kill the infection adequately, therefore she cannot perform safely.”
