We’re stronger under FG’s persecution – IPOB

The Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) has said that the continued persecution and killing of its members by agents of the Federal Government has made pro-Biafra agitators stronger and more popular among Nigerians.

It attributed the incarceration of IPOB leader and Director of Radio Biafra, Mr. Nnamdi Kanu, to the “inexperience of the advisers of President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government.”

Addressing newsmen in Nnewi, Anambra State after a meeting to strategise against the activities of security operatives, IPOB Media and Publicity Officer, Mr. Emma Powerful, said that President Buhari by now should have known that if he had good advisers, the intimidation, harassment and killing of their members were not yielding any fruit for his government but aggravating the situation.

Powerful said that the crackdown on IPOB members by security agents had strengthened the struggle for the actualisation of the sovereign state of Biafra.
He said from President Buhari’s political, legal advisers and even the office of the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, they all need to be examined to know if they want his government to succeed or they are working for its failure.

“If they actually want Buhari to succeed in his government, they should have advised him that there is no gain in further detaining Mr. Kanu because the resolve to actualise Biafra State grows daily as Kanu stays in prison, let alone the ill-treatment he is given in Kuje Prison.

“Sometimes, we wonder the type of advisers the Nigerian President surrounds himself with, from political to legal advisers, including the office of the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, and even his media people, what they tell President Buhari on this his resolve to fight everybody in Nigeria.

“We sometimes pause and pity the man that his advisers, the ministry, agencies and parastatals’ personnel, including individuals that pretend to be his friends and his APC’s men that should advise him are telling him about killing of non-violent Biafra protesters and agitators, they are not telling him the truth on why he has decided to exterminate his hated ethnic group; they are not telling him the truth we want to believe and if that is the case, he better wake up from slumber otherwise IPOB will consume his government.

“Successive governments in Nigeria, especially that of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, witnessed the activities of Biafra agitators and we even shut down the states in the South East and South-South, and nobody was killed, no Biafra agitator was detained more than 48 hours, but this present APC government has detained our leader for almost four months and yet the agitation has not stopped, so does this government think it can cow us?” he concluded.
