A woman has been charged with interfering with her mother’s corpse after the 76-year-old’s remains were found in the backyard of their home.
The daughter of the woman, 55, who has been charged, found a ‘human skull’ in the yard on Wednesday afternoon, before noticing a strange smell and calling police.
According to West Australian police more remains were then found at the home in South Guilford, in Perth, where the three women lived together.
Major Crime Squad detectives charged a 55-year-old woman from South Guildford with interfering with a corpse to hinder Inquiry, WA Police said in a statement on Friday.
The accused was refused bail and is due to appear in the Midland Magistrates Court on Friday.
The investigation is ongoing, pending the results of a post-mortem examination
