However, there are yet to unravel the supplier of fentanyl which caused Prince’s death according to court documents opened on Monday.
The name of his friend and bodyguard were on the prescriptions for the strong painkillers found in Prince’s Paisley Park complex outside Minneapolis, as shown in the affidavits and search warrants.
Investigations included checks on Prince’s computer and cell phone directory of his friends and interviews with associates.
Documents from October 2016, revealed the case was tagged as “an active homicide investigation”, meanwhile nobody has since been criminally charged.
Prince, 57, was found dead at the complex on April 21, 2016. The official cause of death was given as an accidental, self-administered overdose of the painkiller fentanyl.
There was no prescription for fentanyl, a drug 50 times stronger than heroin.
A search also turned up other “numerous narcotic controlled substance pills” in various containers, including vitamin bottles, some of which were prescribed to the musician’s bodyguard.
“Many of those areas where the pills were located would be places Prince would frequent, such as his bedroom and wardrobe/laundry room,” one document said.
