Soldiers Beat And Injure Many Football Fans In Maiduguri, Cause Shock Among Residents
Some football fans of Maiduguri, Borno State, accused Nigerian soldiers of attacking them as they were watching an English Premier League match.
Those assaulted were reportedly at a compound near the Cinema House in the Wulari Jerusalem area watching the clash between Arsenal and Manchester United on November 22.
According to the fans, who pleaded anonymity, the soldiers “started beating people” all of a sudden, causing serious injuries to the innocent, who did nothing illegal.
One Muhammed Aheme said:
“It is not fair at all. Some of my friends were seriously injured and received the beating of their lives. They [soldiers] should stop this kind of attitude that will cause people to start disliking them more. It is not constitutional to enter someone’s private rooms. Their commanders should call them to order.”
