Facebook has confirmed it’s new features which allows users to send money through the social network’s messenger mobile application., also on PC.
The new feature lets you add a debit card to the app and instantly transfer money through conversations.
It works in the same way as you would share a photo with a friend – making it easy to pay mates for tickets or contribute towards a group present.
Facebook explained that it already processes one million transactions each day through gamers and advertisers using the social network.
And the company has been quick to address any fears over security.
“We use secure systems that encrypt the connection between you and Facebook as well as your card information when you ask us to store it for you,” the company states.
“These payment systems are kept in a secured environment that is separate from other parts of the Facebook network and that receive additional monitoring and control. A team of anti-fraud specialists monitor for suspicious purchase activity to help keep accounts safe.”
Facebook’s payment system will let you send quick cash instantly through Messenger when you’ve added a Visa or MasterCard card to your account, you will see the option to pay a friend appear in conversations on Messenger.
At first, the free service will only be available to users in the US, but it’s likely Facebook will roll it out globally at a later date.
The service will be available on iOS and Android devices and also over Facebook’s desktop site."
