PDP Dragged To Court Over Jonathan’s N70million Campaign Debt

N70million balance for campaign contract owed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and two officials of its presidential campaign organisation, as they have been taken to court by Silon Concepts Limited.

The firm is demanding full payment for the ‘voice SMS campaign broadcast’ it sent to eligible voters on behalf of the PDP Presidential candidate, former President Goodluck Jonathan, before the March 28, 2015 presidential poll: The Firm explain before the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja on Thursday, June 4,

The two members of the campaign organisation, who are defendants in the suit are the Chairman, Ahmadu Ali, and Director of Finance, Senator Nenadi Usman.

According to Punch, the firm claims that the party through Ahmadu Ali had agreed to pay the sum of N100m for the contract before the election, but only paid N20m as initial payment instead of N30m as agreed.

The firm is asking the court to order the party to pay it the sum of N70m being the outstanding balance for the contract executed for the party and is demanding an additional N15m as the cost of the suit.

The PDP and its candidate, Goodluck Jonathan eventually lost the March presidential election to President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The party has also been enmeshed in crisis following its poor performance in the 2015 general election.'
