Dream Team VI coach Samson Siasia has handed call-ups to Flying Eagles trio, Kelechi Iheanacho, Musa Yahaya and Moses Simon
ahead of next month’s CAF U23 championship qualifiers against Congo.
The dropped players are Sani Faisal, Lukmon Gilmore, Emmanuel Ammana, Tonbara Tiongoli, Freedom Omofonma, Uche Okeke and Gabriel Sunday.
The trio, we were part of Manu Garba’s team at the 2015 FIFA U20 World Cup in New Zealand, have been invited to the team, alongside other Flying Eagles players; Musa Muhammed, Dele Alampasu, Taiwo Awoniyi, Kingsley Sokari and Saviour Godwin.
While the likes of Awoniyi, Muhammed, Sokari, Alampasu and Godwin are all expected to join the team immediately, the likes of Yahaya, Iheanacho and Moses won’t join until two weeks to the first leg of the
qualifiers.
Meanwhile, Siasia has also wielded the big stick by dropping seven of the players in the team’s camp after the 3-3 draw with Wikki Tourists of Bauchi.
“I have given all these players enough time to showcase what they can bring on the table, but I am so disappointed that till this minute
they still have not been able to convince me, so they have to give way for others to come and show me and my technical crew what
they can offer.
“I thank them for their contribution to the success of the team in the past, but we have to move on, if they show signs of improvement in their clubs they can be recalled to the team,” Siasia said.
Siasia has also invited Sharks FC defender Chima Akas and Warri Wolves defender Semiu Laidi to report to camp immediately.
