The Sultan of Sokoto who is also President-General, Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), Alhaji Muhammad Abubakar Sa’ad 111, has urged Muslims in the country to watch out for the Night of Majesty as the month of Ramadan entered the 20th day on Tuesday.
“Taking into cognizance the importance of the last ten days of Ramadan, Nigerian Muslims are called upon to maximally put to use these last ten days in reciting more of the Glorious Qur’an, being punctual in observing the daily obligatory prayers in congregation,’’ the Sultan said yesterday in a statement by the JNI Secretary-General, Dr. Khalid Abubakar Aliyu.
The statement also urged Muslims to intensify their acts of generosity in giving alms to the poor, the needy, the orphans and the handicapped in the society, especially as many families currently live from hand to mouth.
The statement read: “Tuesday, July 7, 2015, marked the twentieth day of Ramadan. The night witnessed the beginning for the search of the most blessed night, the night of decree and honour which is sought in the odd nights, 21st, 23rd, 25th, 27th and 29th of Ramadan.
“More importantly, Muslims should watch out for Laylatul Qadr (the Night of Power) which often comes up in one of the five exceptional nights, according to authentic Ahadith of Prophet Muhammad.
“We, however, use this medium to once again condemn in the strongest terms the recent attack unleashed on innocent civil servants undergoing screening at the Sabon Gari local government secretariat, Zaria in Kaduna State.”
