Governor Seriake Dickson of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has been declared winner of the Bayelsa State governorship election following the conclusion of collation of official results in Saturday’s supplementary poll by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
To emerge winner, Mr. Dickson floored his main opponent, former governor Timipre Sylva of All Progressives Congress, APC, by scoring 134, 998 votes out of total valid votes of 225, 520.
Sylva scored a total of 86, 852 votes to emerge runner-up.
The INEC’s Returning Officer, Professor Zana Akpagu, who announced Governor Dickson as winner, said: “That Dickson, Henry Seriake of PDP, having satisfied requirements of the law and scored highest number of votes, is hereby declared winner and returned elected”.
