(Photos) Vegan spends $250 on buying a lobster so she could release it back into the ocean

A vegan spent almost $250 on a lobster just so she could rescue him from a lonely supermarket and ship him 2,000 miles back to the ocean.
Christine Loughead was in her local grocery store in Ontario, Canada when she spotted the live animal in a tank.
She bought the creature, which she named Lobby Joe, spending $20 and took it home, where she cut the tape that were binding its pincers and placed it in her tank.

But knowing that she wanted it to release it into the ocean, she did some research and discovered the lobster like came from Nova Scotia.
She then messaged a vegan group in the area to ask if somebody would be willing to release the lobster back into the ocean.
Eventually she found Beth Kent, who agreed to collect the lobster and take it to the coast to be released.

Ms Loughead then drove to the nearest UPS store six hours away in Winnipeg, and paid $225 to ship the animal to Ms Kent in a styrofoam box packed with ice and wet newspaper.

After a 24 hour journey, she received the animal and eventually took it to a cove where she release it into the water and it happily swam off.

Ms Kent told CBC: ‘All of a sudden, he straightened out and walked over the rocks.’

Later Ms Kent contacted Ms Loughead back in Ontario to let her know the mission had been successful.
And even though the rescue cost her over $200, Ms Loughead said she believed this lobster’s life mattered.
She added:

‘It’s a food animal to [most] and it’s not an attractive animal, but I tell people to close their eyes and picture something cuter waiting to die in the deli section.’I’m pretty sure you’d have an impulse to do something.’
