Lionel Messi’s penalty against Paris Saint-Germain in their incredible 6-1 win on Wednesday night, saw him equal Cristiano Ronaldo as the Champions League’s most potent player from the spot.
The La Liga champions were trailing 4-0 to Paris Saint-Germain, ahead of the second leg at the Camp Nou.
Luis Suarez, Kurzawa’s own goal and Messi’s penalty gave Barca a three-goal cushion, before Edinson Cavani turned the tie on its head with a stunning finish.
However, Luis Enrique’s men fought back with a brace from Neymar and a last-gap goal from Sergi Roberto, to make Champions League history.
Messi’s goal means he has now scored 11 times from 12 yards in the European competition, the highest of any player in competition history alongside Ronaldo.
It was also his 37th goal in the knockout rounds. Only Ronaldo has more (44).
