A supporter of Barcelona football club died on Wednesday night in Yola, Adamawa State, after Barcelona defied the odds and turned around what was supposed to be an impossible task to beat PSG.
The young Nigerian football fan of Spanish club, FC Barcelona, identified as Teri, reportedly died on Wednesday night in Yola, the Adamawa State capital, while celebrating Sergi Roberto’s 95th minute historic goal against PSG in the Champions league, round of 16 clash, on what witnesses said was “over excitement”.
Speaking with Premium Times, a former chairman of Yola Central Development Area on Thursday, said; “Teri was watching the match at football show centre and he jumped up to celebrate the last goal scored by Barca but unfortunately died celebrating.”
He said Teri, a trader in Luggere area of Yola and a “diehard” fan of Barcelona, went to watch the match with some of his relations, who later rushed him to hospital after he slumped. The body was later deposited at the mortuary of the nearby Yola Specialist Hospital, he said.
As at the time of filing this report, the police could not be immediately reached to comment on this story.
