Steven Gerrard and his wife Alex have welcomed their fourth child.
The footballer, 36, took to Instagram to confirm the pair had welcomed their first little boy called Lio George on Saturday morning, thought to be named after sports star Lionel Messi.
The Liverpool star gushed to his 5.9 million followers about his wife, 34, and their newborn: ‘Both are doing great . Our family is complete.’
Gerrard is a big fan of fellow footballer Messi, previously describing him as ‘the best there will ever be’, and it’s thought he has paid tribute to his friend by naming his son after him.
Having expressed his desire for a son with Alex in the past, Steven could not contain his excitement as he shared a dramatic black and white image with the words ‘It’s a boy!’ to his social media page.
Beneath the exciting statement, their newborn’s full name, Lio George Gerrard, was printed along with the birth date, 29.04.17.
The sportsman wrote proudly beside the image: ‘Lio George Gerrard was born this morning at 4.55am . Both are doing great . Our family is complete’, followed by a love-heart emoji.
