The Ogun State government is looking to explore the huge deposit of bitumen in the state to the benefit of its indigenes.
At a political campaign rally held in Ijebu North Local Government Area of the state on Tuesday, Governor Ibikunle Amosun, said he would provide the necessary political will and leadership that would ensure that the state fully benefits from the huge bitumen deposit in three local government areas of the state.
He said that the state government would work with the Federal Government in the exploration of the natural resource.
“We are ready to partner with the Federal Government in the exploration of bitumen in the state,” he said, emphasising that revenues generated from natural resources should be used for the betterment of the lives of Nigerians.
Some of the gains of the exploration, according to the Governor, would be and improved socio-economic development of the state.
At the really in Ijebu-North Local Government in Ogun East Senatorial District of Ogun State, Governor Amosun sought the support of the indigenes in his re-election bid, making various promises of a better life if re-elected in the February governorship election.
In some of the wards visited, party supporters, groups and associations appreciated the infrastructural development posture of the administration which they said had to continue.
From ward to ward, the campaign train was received by enthusiastic supporters, with the Governor reeling out his plans for the people of the areas, which included construction of more schools and roads.
After the campaign in Ijebu-North, the Governor is expected to visit Ifo Local Government in continuation of his campaign tour.
