Ohaneze Warns Fr. Mbaka To Steer Clear Of Politics, Lists His Failed Prophecies

Rev. Fr. Mbaka

The Youth Council of the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohaneze Ndigbo, has warned the fiery Enugu Catholic priest, Rev. Father Ejike Mbaka, to desist from inciting Nigerians against President Goodluck Jonathan.

Describing his remarks as “spiritual poison” unbecoming of a religious leader, the National President of the Ohaneze Youth Council, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, urged Nigerians, especially Ndigbo, to ignore the vituperations of the Catholic priest as he was not speaking for either the Catholic Church or Ndigbo.

He said the comments by Rev. Father Mbaka against the president were not only vexatious but inciting and advised him to steer clear of politics and face his spiritual calling.

"Mbaka as a man of God should have stayed out of politics and concentrated on winning souls for God. His followers expected him to give them spiritual food but he is now giving them a spiritual poison,”

“Does he possess the facts and figures he was dishing out? Why should he blow hot and cold? The first lady visited him and showered earthly blessings on him and he extolled the Jonathan’s regime only to turn back to incite the polity against him. What kind of contradiction is that?”

“Any way, he spoke for himself and not Ndigbo or the Christiandom. We call on the Catholic High Command to look into this grossly political statement from Father Mbaka to find out his real motive.”

Isiguzoro while advising the catholic priest to concentrate on his calling, he also listed some of the priest’s prophecies that never came to pass.

In his words, ''A line separates religion from politics. Let Mbaka concentrate on his priestly calling and stop meddling in politics. By castigating the President, Mbaka has compromised in the oath he took as a priest.''

''He should stop his predictions that never come true'', the Ohaneze youth leader said.

''In 2003, Mbaka predicted that ex-Governor Chimaroke Nnamani would not return as governor in Enugu State, but he ( Nnamani) returned; he also predicted in 2014 that Ikedi Ohakim would return as Imo State governor, but he failed the primary''.

The Ohaneze Youth leader also said that Fr. Mbaka should tender an apology to President Goodluck Jonathan and Igbos.
