OBJ, An African Political Maestro At 78 Years Old By Adesina Oluwaseun

I am a student of history with a vast knowledge of African culture and politics, it will be a taboo for me not to acknowledge a great African elder statesman who has enjoyed the overwhelming grace of almighty God, whose names reflects the awesomeness of God in his life. This is no other person than Chief Matthew Aremu Okikiola Olusegun Obasanjo a man who was born on "Ifo" Market day, in Ibogun- Olaogun, Owu 78 years ago, a two time head of government in Nigeria, first as military head of State (1976-1979), then as a democratically elected president (1999-2007).

Indeed, God has been merciful to this great " Balogun of the Universe" and the "Ebora of Africa", a frontline achiever and son of the soil of the gateway state, a definition of what God's favor means in the life of an individual, a man whose voice has continually been a factor to reckon with all over the world, a man whose voice and contribution is like an earthquake in Africa, a roaring lion in Europe , a symbol of honor and authority in America, a change maker in south America, a navigator in Asia , a transformer in Australia.

Sir, many have condemned and continually criticized your actions, I will not join any set of people to insult your person because of the steps you too recently in your attempt to set the country on the right path because one can never be blessed by the anointing one doesn't respect. I cherish and value the tremendous favor, you have continually enjoyed from almighty God because I desire much more of the grace you enjoying sir, your wealth of experience and sincerity in governance and administration has continually made Africa and Nigeria remain one. You are indeed a man who believes in democracy, good governance and equity. This you showed as a military head of state by handing over power to a civilian government in 1979 and campaigning vigorously for a minority race to be Nigeria's president in 2011. Much more can be said of you, how you have continually ensured political stability in Nigeria.

My great grand father in politics sir, I count it as a privilege to be your political son and student. It is to this end, I humbly join your well wishers all over the whole world to wish you Chief Matthew Aremu Okikiola Olusegun Obasanjo a happy 78th birthday.

God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

God bless the African Continent.

Peace in the world is what we seek."
