Fear Of Nigerians: South Africa Closes Lagos Consulate To Avoid Attacks

South Africa consul general in Nigeria, Sam Monaisa sent an email to South African business forum stating that he has ordered the temporal closure of the Lagos consulate and that the closure would remain in force until Thursday.

Even though the situation in Zulu, Durban has calmed down, Sam is still concerned about Nigerians that were being repatriated.

According to him, Sam said Nigerians were using social media to blow an already tense situation in South Africa out of proportion and stroking emotions.

Sam warned the forum’s member to stay alert and not move around unnecessarily. And that South African businesses and citizens became targets of threats and acts of retaliation whenever xenophobic attacks occurred in South Africa."
