Edo State Petroleum and Pipeline Monitoring Committee has intercepted a truck loaded with 10,000 litres of adulterated diesel.
The Mercedes Benz truck marked AA 663 XB was intercepted on May 29 at Dawson junction, along Akpakpava road, in Oredo Local Government Area of the state.
The committee’s Director of Operations, Nosa Idele-Ogbeide, said the truck driver ran away after he was subjected to questioning.
Idele-Ogbeide, explained that the truck driver had earlier claimed that the product was from a private depot.
However, the management of MRS Oil Nigeria Plc whose waybill was presented by the truck driver denied issuing waybill for the confiscated product.
The company’s Depot Distribution Supervisor, Benin, Chimezie Adiele, said the documents and the truck did not belong to the company.
Adiele said, “This is not MRS Oil Nigeria Plc document. The truck is not MRS Nigeria Plc truck. Our trucks are branded.”
“And even here, in Benin, we do not have a 15,000 capacity truck. But we would like to know the owner of this truck, this is not an issue for MRS Nigeria Plc,” he added.'
