“We debated extensively on the issue of a foreign coach and it was agreed that the technical committee to make a case why we would need a foreign coach,” said Dalung to newsmen after a meeting with the NFF in Abuja on Tuesday. “We need to know where we will get the funds, there should be an established source of funding for a foreign coach. I expect a report from the NFF in four weeks.”

I gave NFF 4 weeks to write a report on how we’ll get funds for a foreign coach – Sports minister Dalung
Despite plans by the leadership of the NFF to quickly bring in a new coach to take over from interim coach Samson Siasia after Nigeria’s exit from AFCON 2017 participation, the sports minister has shelved plans to bring in a new foreign technical adviser till a month’s time after the NFF submits a report to the sports ministry on how the foreign coach will be paid once he is employed.
