This week’s headlines in music have revolved largely around the budding beef between Remy Ma and Nicki Minaj.
While Remy Ma has dropped back-to-back digs at the Pinkprint rapper to no avail, during a new interview with Wendy Williams she revealed the real reason why after years of trading subliminal disses, she decided she had to take things to the next level.
During Fat Joe and Remy’s sit-down on the Wendy show, the three go through the formalities discussing their new Plata O Plomo record before diving into the juicy details regarding Remy’s escalating beef with Nicki Minaj.
According to Remy, she decided to unleash the near-seven-minute track “ShETHER” because of what Minaj was up to “behind the scenes.”
“She started… she’s been doing this to a lot of females from Lil’ Kim to Mariah [Carey] to Taylor [Swift] to [Miley Cyrus] – and no one says anything,” Remy says, explaining that she feels Minaj has allegedly tried to “make sure awards don’t go to me or she’s not going to be attendance.”
She also accused Minaj of going out of her way to get “people to make bad reports” about her album sales or “anything I’m doing to make me look less and make her look better.”
Considering that type of shady business taps into her bank account, she decided that was the final straw.
“When you’re trying to stop my bag, when you’re trying to stop me from taking care of my children… I have a problem with that,” she explains. She even said that throughout her experience in the rap game, she deems that Minaj simply isn’t a “nice person.”
“If I learned anything from this I realized that I have to be a certain way to everybody; the help, the hair, the makeup, the person holding the door, because so many people have been coming, and the things that I’ve been hearing I said, ‘Nah, I’m not going to say that… that’s too much,’” she adds.
She then offered even further that at this point, it is what it is and she is done.
For her interview appearance on the show, Remy dressed like she was going to a funeral, adding that her “grandmother told [her] you never speak ill of the dead.”
