The couple had just left the Long Island Pour House on Patchogue Road, when they were confronted by Michael Skiadas in the parking lot.
An argument broke out and between the woman's former boyfriend and her new lover.
Skiadas suddenly pulled a shotgun, police said. A friend, Jack Schneider, 32, tried to calm him down, but Skiadas hit him in the head with the gun.
Kasten and Panebianco were trying to escape when Skiadas ran to their car and fired two shots, hitting and killing Panebianco, police said.
Skiadas then returned to his vehicle and shot himself. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Panebianco, a TD bank employee, was taken to a local hospital, but could not be saved. Schneider was taken to a hospital and treated for non life-threatening injuries.
Kasten, the woman who the men were fighting over, was not injured.
