Three people were killed and four hurt during an apparent drive-by shooting at a corner store in northern California on Tuesday night, police said.
Stockton Police Department spokesman Joe Silva said police received a call about the shooting around 8:20 p.m. local time, adding that a total of seven people were hit, one of whom died at the scene and the other who died at hospital.
The department said on its Twitter account that a third person later died.
Silva said all the remaining victims were taken to area hospitals for treatment, but could not provide their conditions. No suspect was in custody, Silva said.
He said that the department had sent homicide and gang investigators to the scene, as the area was a known hotspot for gang activity.
Stockton is a city of nearly 300,000 residents, some 50 miles (80 km) south of Sacramento."
