LeBron James To Pay For 1,100 Students’ Tuition For College

Cleveland Cavaliers player, LeBron James, has announced that his LeBron James Family Foundation will partner with the #UniversityofAkron to provide full scholarships, valued at $38,000 (N7.5m) for the 1,100 children currently in his #IPromise program.
According to ESPN, Lebron has been sponsoring this program for five years and the children range from third to seventh grade. If the kids complete the program and meet attendance and grade requirements, their tuition will be covered by his foundation and the university starting in 2021, when the current seventh graders in the program would have graduated high school.
Speaking to ESPN, Lebron said: “I think it’s probably one of the best things I’ve ever been apart of. This is very special to me. As a kid growing up in the inner city and as an African American kid, you don’t really think past high school because it’s not possible or your family can’t support you. For us to be able to do something like this … it means so much.”
