Rihanna touched on her upcoming eighth studio album, ‘R8’, in a new cover story with NME. The 27-year-old artist has been slowly teasing her latest project for months, but has yet to offer an official album title or release date.
“It’s not done!” Rihanna told NME of the record, which fans have begun referring to as ‘R8’ in lieu of a confirmed title. “To me it’s never done until it’s done. Until the final moment.”
In the nearly three years since the November 2012 release of Unapologetic, the Grammy winner has filled the void in the hearts of her Navy members by dropping one-off singles, which are expected to be featured on the eighth album. Earlier this year, Rihanna topped charts with “FourFiveSeconds” with Kanye West and Paul McCartney, going on to debut the banger “Bitch Better Have My Money,” as well as “American Oxygen” and its VMA-nominated accompanying video.
She told NME she has “something great” in the works, adding, “No matter what I post online, within three comments there’s somebody saying, ‘Where is ‘R8?” I could post anything. Nothing else matters. They don’t care about anything but that. But it makes me excited.”
