The police public relations officer in Yobe state, Toyin Gbadegesin, has narrated how a police constable allegedly ran mad on Friday, September 18.
He told the News Agency of Nigeria in Nangere, Yobe State, how the police officer ran mad on duty, killing two senior policemen. The policeman however killed himself thereafter.
“A constable in Nangere went berserk this morning, grabbed a rifle and shot two inspectors who died instantly. He shot himself too but did not die instantly but was rushed to the hospital. The cause of his action is not known yet but investigation into the unfortunate incident has begun to unravel the remote and immediate cause of his action,” Gbadegesin said.
A hospital staff who pleaded anonymity also confirmed the death of the policemen, saying that “the three bodies have been deposited at General Hospital, Potiskum.”
Just recently, a drunk police officer was caught on camera exchanging blows with a young lady in Lekki area of Lagos. Few months ago, a police officer in Lagos, identified as Aurthur Okeke, with ID. No.453255 assaulted a heavily pregnant woman.
Recall also that a police sergeant was accused of raping a 13-year-old daughter of a popular pastor at Ukpor in Anambra State recently. Also, Tafa Mohammed, a police officer caught at the center of controversy, was caught on camera assaulting two women at Obalende in Lagos.
