Gosh! Suspected 78 Year Old Man Sexually Abused Child With Special Needs!

 I will definitely rant out my annoyance today, ‘kilode naa’ (why?).  Honestly these disgusting acts which have become a daily occurrence really hurts.  Probably the suspect ‘don dey do am’ since his perverted youth days because this is definitely not loneliness ‘enweghi isi'(nonsense!). I wonder what these men see in kids, ‘don haka m’ (so sad).

‘Follow up on the call I got some days ago on the abuse incident on a child with special needs…
We went to Mariam’s school (the abused child ) first thing the following day which was 10th of march 2016. I met her mother and other Teachers waiting for me. The mother amidst tears narrated her story that Mariam is a good child and that even if she is deaf and dumb she is very kindhearted and never gave her issues…
Mariam is just a 14 years old girl child and the old man who abused her is in his late 70’s, I asked how did he get to see Mariam?  I was told they stay in the same area and her mother occasionally will send her to go and grind pepper at his place because that’s what he does for a living.
With the help of a teacher who Translated for Mariam I asked her how it all happened and she told me that the old man will call her into his room touch her Tiny little breast that was just growing insert his hands into her V***** and force her to rob his p*** and if she fails to follow his instructions he would beat her and give her twenty naira and warn her not to tell anyone…
Immediately, I heard all this I called the ministry of women Affairs, child walfare unit n they arrived within an hour. I relayed what happened to them and immediately they swung into action. We went to the old man’s house and he was arrested and taken to the police station on our arrival.
At the station, unfortunately for the old man the person who took charge of the case was a female police officer and also a mother so he knew he was done for… Although he denied ever touching the child but she told us he was lying because he knew she is deaf and dumb and couldn’t defend herself…
Statements where taken and the old man was arrested and charged to court with Mariam sent home with her mother and teachers at least they got justice … More to come on the follow up…-Grace
