The Minister of Youth and Sports, Barrister Solomon Dalung has declared that there is no change in the leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) following last Friday’s Court ruling declaring the September 30, 2014 election of Amaju Pinnick and his NFF executive board as illegal.
Dalung, who declared open the extra ordinary Congress of the NFF yesterday in Abuja urged Nigerians to disregard rumours of changes in the administration of Nigerian football, adding that it was being peddled by mischief makers who are bent on destroying the nations football.
“They said there is a court order sacking the Amaju Pinnick led football federation, I asked them to bring the court order to that effect, but when they brought the order, it was dated 2014 instead of 2015. So I find it funny.
“I believe these are actions of mischief makers who are bent on destroying the nation’s football, but by the grace of God they will not achieve this purpose. Football is a unifying factor in the country and we all have a duty to uphold it”, he noted.
Dalung urged the warring factions to sheath their swords and work together for the development of the game in the country.
In his remarks, chairman Senate Committee on Sports, Senator Obinna Ogba, urged the Amaju-led NFF to be focused in the objective of sanitizing the football industry, assuring that the 8th Senate is solidly behind them.
“Most of you here have been waiting to hear what I will say, but with my presence here today, it is obvious where we belong. I have a good working relationship with Pinnick, and there is no assistance that he has asked of me that I have not rendered to him as it concerns Nigerian football”.
He also urged all aggrieved parties to come together for the good of the game in the country.
