Marseille defender Patrice Evra has revealed that he is still in contact with Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho ahead of busy summer transfer window.
The French left-back was a fan favourite during his years at the Old Trafford, where he won several laurels under former boss Sir Alex Ferguson before his move to the Serie A with Juventus, helping the Italian giants to several Scudetto titles.
Evra was tipped to return to the Old Trafford during the last January transfer window, but the deal could not materialise and he chose to join French Ligue 1 outfit, Marseille.
Ahead of the summer transfer window, United have been linked with a number of players as Jose Mourinho will hope to bolster his ranks ahead of his second season at Old Trafford.
Evra has now revealed that he keeps close contact with the Portuguese despite his failed transfer last window, he told SFR Sport: ‘We sometimes send each other a few text messages. Besides, I nearly returned to United – I don’t hide that. Unfortunately, it didn’t happen,
‘I won’t go into the details. But of course I would have liked to play under Mourinho.’
It is understood that Mourinho will try to sign another left-back next summer after getting discontented with Luke Shaw’s performances so far in the current campaign.
