Boko Haram: IBB Tasks Nigerians On Self-Defense

Nigeria’s former military President, General Ibrahim Babangida, has tasked all Nigerians on self-defence and Jihad against the bloodthirsty Boko Haram members.

The ex-President, who gave the advice on Monday during an interview with British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) Hausa, insisted that there was nothing wrong if the people being attacked prepared for self-defence, saying the act could be regarded as Jihad.

Babangida while condemning the recent killings in Kano and other parts of the north east by the Boko Haram sect members sent his heart felt condolence to the victims’ families as well as the state government.

IBB, who noted that it was a good thing that the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Lamido Sanusi, had called for prayers and fasting for peace to reign in the country also expressed confidence in the ability of the Nigerian military in combating and ending the Boko Haram menace.

The former president said as a soldier, he believed that the crisis would not be insurmountable.
