Sponsored: Udom's Robust Campaigns And Joyful Expectations

The Udom Emmanuel/Moses Ekpo 2015 Governorship team has just rounded off the first phase of intensive campaigns across the thirty one local government areas in Akwa Ibom State. The exercise which began about a month ago came to an end Monday at the Onna stadium after visits by the campaign team to all the 31 local government areas of the State, and the last being Onna was witnessed by an unprecedented crowd described by many as the ‘’largest crowd of supporters ever witnessed in a single event in the area’’.

In attempting to give a fair account of what transpired across the state, it is heartwarming to note that the PDP candidate, Udom Emmanuel and his entourage received a warm reception in all parts of the state. From the flag-off ceremony to the Onna mega carnival, it was a testament of excitement, music, laughter, appreciation, appeals and joyful expectations from the good people of Akwa Ibom State.

It was a campaign devoid of bitterness, hate messages and blackmail and the PDP candidate never failed to seize the opportunity to show the people why he is the most preferred. In all his presentations, he displayed his excellent grasp of the challenges confronting the masses. From one locality to another, he talked to the major problems of the people while also providing practical steps to solving them. In all these, Udom Emmanuel never played to the gallery by making unrealistic promises.

Moreso, one of the moral lessons derived from the campaign tours is the fact that Akwa Ibom people have come to terms with the quality of leadership they deserve and have so made it clear to the world. The people have justified the fact that Udom Emmanuel's Governorship aspiration is based on his exemplary profile, outstanding credential, performance pedigree, discipline, social attributes, social etiquettes, past/present achievements and experiences, integrity, professionalism, modernization, flexibility and his tolerance to embrace constructive criticism.

The people have further shown that Udom Emmanuel, a Performer, an achiever, a renowned and credentialed financial controller and manager, an agent, an apostle of Transformation and sustainable development, an internationally recognized accountant and investor, a seasoned Technocrat;
one of the most sought-after in his profession worldwide, is one whose feet have best fitted the only shoe size of the Akwa Ibom State governorship office.

The quality of leadership, more than any other single factor, determines the success or failure of an organisation. To lead is to inspire, to influence and to initiate productive change within people and processes as we move toward our vision. The Udom/Moses 2015 Campaigns so far have revealed that being a leader means determination to create a path rather than following others. It means setting a direction and continuously looking for new solutions to the ever-changing needs and expectations around us.

Udom Emmanuel has demonstrated strongly that he will contribute to a stronger image, reputation and credibility of our state while he continues to providing value to our stakeholders. Udom Emmanuel's leadership expectations are embodied in creating value, driving positive change, bringing out the best in people, being accountable, being tough-minded and fair and being loyal beyond personal interest. His open and outstanding record can proof this claim.

The intensive campaigns and close engagements has revealed that Udom has a great personality. He is sympathetic, empathetic, steady, kind, assertive, integrous, proficient, efficient, competent, aggressive, experienced, intelligent, mature, humble, attentive, generous, God fearing, broken, educated, honest, trust worthy, loyal, not greedy, and modernized. These are attributes of a great leader. And with these, Udom Emmanuel will make a great Governor.

Udom Emmanuel's life and achievements have laid down the blue print or the foundation of what is to come for the people of Akwa Ibom State in the near future, but one that without a doubt, will drum Akwa Ibom State’s industrialization and massive development scheme on the center stage of global industrialization. Udom is ready to build Akwa Ibom beyond the blue print of current infrastructural
Developments laid down by the visionary and transformer, Governor Godswill Akpabio, to massive urban creation and developments throughout the state.

Udom cannot wait to enhance youth empowerment in Akwa Ibom State through massive educational training and Investment opportunities geared towards massive job creation, and employments of jobless Akwa Ibom indigenes, including those in the diasporas. Akwa Ibom State is ready to embrace massive Industrialization, human resource development and creation of middle class economy, healthcare transformation through Implementation of innovative healthcare delivery systems, building of modern hospitals and modernization of existing infrastructures, construction of new urban and rural roads and settlements, and the expansion of existing roads and settlements.

This is what Udom Emmanuel stands for; a man passionately waiting to take Akwa Ibom State through the 21 st Century having been challenged by his predecessor’s uncommon transformation scheme.

In Ibeno, for instance, Mr Udom Emmanuel listed the completion of the ongoing dualisation of Ibeno- Eket- Etinan –Uyo road up to Ikot Oku Ikono junction, construction of rural roads in Ibeno, youth empowerment, among others as some of his vision for Ibeno people.

He promised to attract more oil and gas firms and to encourage the mechanization of fishing in the area, while partnering the relevant security agencies to combat piracy on the waterways.

He used the opportunity of his campaign visit to intimate the people that the promoters of the Petrochemical Industry proposed for the area have already finalized modalities for the take off of a 3000 housing unit in the area.

In Esit Eket, Udom promised to accord priority to youth empowerment, roads construction, infrastructure and human capital development as well as rapid industrialization, in his avowed determination to put smiles on the faces of Esit Eket people. He particularly, listed Ntak Inyang, and Edor-Ekpene Obo roads as some of the roads that would be constructed when he assumes office, and promised to open up Esit Eket to have an unfettered access to the sea.

In Itu, Udom pledged to sustain the good work the government has started in Itu. Deacon Emmanuel revealed that, during his survey of Itu, he discovered that the area is blessed with Natural resources including glass sand, which he said, a glass company is already working to invest in and exploit for commercial industrial production.

The PDP governorship hopeful also stated that, his administration will work hard to revamp the Nigerian Newsprint Manufacturing Company, Quality ceramics and reposition the Mary Slessor Hospital to restore its lost glory, including the construction of the road leading to the hospital. Deacon Udom disclosed that, about 157 medical experts from all over the world have been invited to train health personnel in the state on various areas in the sector, which will enhance medical tourism in the state.

On the issue of industrialization in Itu, Deacon Emmanuel said the PDP still believe in Itu which boasts the best power supply in the state which provides a solid foundation for industrialization. He revealed that an industry to manufacture Amoured Personnel Carriers is already slated for Itu by an Israeli firm, as the agreement has been made and sealed. He added that, compensation for the land acquired for its take-off is fully paid.

Other issues Deacon Udom said will receive due attention include internal development, including roads, the Itu coastal line which he said will be maximised, alongside the tank farms, fisheries and sea food naturally making Itu a business hub that can be turned around to create wealth for the youths and women. The same transpired in other local government areas across the state.

These and many more are the reasons Akwa Ibom State cannot afford to get a Governor who is railroaded into the seat of power without any demonstration of ability to comprehend the problems of our societies on the basis of which they could fashion a sustainable plan.

Udom Emmanuel is that leader who has not only demonstrated a capacity for creative thinking; his resource management capability is evident from his work. The new song is Udom Emmanuel and every man, woman, youth and child is singing it with joy and ecstasy. The rest is only a matter of time.
