University In Kaduna Upgrade To Focus On Science and Technology

The Governor of Kaduna State, Mukhtar Yero, has promised to upgrade the Kafanchan Campus of the State University (KASU) to a full-fledged University of Science and Technology, if re-elected in the governorship election that will hold this month.

Governor Yero told a gathering at a campaign rally in Sanga in southern part of the state on Monday that the upgrade would improve the quality of education that students get from the institution.

He also promised to improve on the performance of the State’s present administration in the last two years and said that his administration would continue to give priority to Security, Agriculture, Job Creation, Poverty Alleviation and Education.

The Governor also promised that if re-elected for another four years, the PDP-led administration in the State and Federal level would secure the creation of Gurara State for the people of Southern Kaduna.

The Governor and his entourage were received in Sanga by a large turnout of party supporters and people of the area.

The Governor was accompanied by his running-mate and the incumbent Deputy Governor of the State, Nuhu Bajoga, as they announced areas they would focus on if re-elected.

Dancing and singing in admiration of the dignitaries, the various speakers pledged their support to candidates of the PDP at all levels.

At the rally, some residents of Sanga, Kaura and Kachia Local Government Areas of the Southern part of Kaduna State promised to vote massively for the re-election of Governor Yero in the February 28 governorship election, saying that the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) remains the right man to transform the State and restore it to the path of prosperity.

The People’s representative spoke when the Governor’s campaign train visited the three Local Governments during the rally to woo voters across the State ahead of the February election.

Interestingly, Sanga was hitherto branded a no-go-area for PDP, but the large turnout of party supporters and indigenes is a clear testimony that the people are earnestly supporting the incumbent Governor to enable him consolidate on the achievements recorded within a short period in office.

Addressing the people and traditional ruler of the community, Yero sympathised with them over the unfortunate attacks in some parts of the Local Government and pledged to improve security in the area.

In their separate speeches, the state PDP chairman and the deputy governor told the gathering why they must stick to the party. They assured the people of continued provision of democratic dividends for another four years.
