There are fears the peace accord signed by political parties and their candidates in Abia State is being threatened as violent clashes have been recorded, especially in the rural areas.
The latest being an alleged attack on a member of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) by supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Isiala-Ngwa south Local Government Area.
The governorship candidate of APGA Abia State, Mr Alex Otti has said expressed fear that the peace accord signed by political parties is being disregarded by the ruling opposition party, especially in the rural areas.
Accompanied by his running mate, Uche Eme-Uche, Mr Otti visited the Independence National Electoral Commission (INEC) office in Umuahia.
After an hour of a closed-door meeting with the State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) Professor Jacob Jatau, Mr Otti told journalists that he came to inquire about the State of preparedness for Saturday’s presidential election.
Earlier, a young lady, Uloaku Nworgu was alleged to have been attacked in her shop by members of the PDP in Umuapu-Umuapkor, Isiala-Ngwa, on refusing to remove pictures of the APGA governorship candidates pasted on her shop.
Mr Alex Otti however described the latest violence as a show of desperation by the opposition party.
Uloaku Nworgu is said to be receiving treatment at a hospital.
But the APGA governorship candidate said that intimidation from the ruling party would not deter him from carrying out his campaigns. According to him, it only gives him more strength and the conviction that he would win the governorship election."
