The casualty figure in Sunday’s attack on Egba community in Agatu Local Government Area of Benue state by armed herdsmen is yet to be reconciled between the villagers who buried the dead and the police authority.
While the village youths confirmed to Channels Television crew that 86 corpses were buried in the mass grave site, the Police Commission in Benue state, Mister Hyacinth Dagala was not specific on the casualty figures.
The bereaved Egba community remain cold as youths keep vigil in other to protect themselves as those who have been widowed continue wailing and mourning their loved ones.
Some houses and vehicle were burnt down completely as some of the survivors state their ordeal at the village clinic where they are being treated, one of the victims is a Youth Corp member who passed out from the scheme last month.
For the leader of the affected community, the fatality of the attack on his kinsmen by the herdsmen is worrisome."
