Yobe, Adamawa Free From Boko Haram – Nigerian Military

In the words of the Nigerian military, the Boko Haram sect has been cleared from Yobe State, Nigeria’s north east region, after the military troops reclaimed the town of Goniri.

Speaking on his twitter handle, the Director of Defence Information, Major-General Chris Olukolade, said that Goniri was the last stronghold of terrorists in Yobe State.

Olukolade wrote in a tweet, “Adamawa is free, Yobe is free, Borno is soon to be freed by our able military.”

The military added that with the apparent liberation of Yobe State, only a handful of towns and villages in Borno State were still under the control of Boko Haram.

This development is coming on the same day that troops of the Nigerian military recaptured Bama, the commercial centre of Borno State."
