An Egyptian boy below 10 years of age was engaged to his younger cousin and pictures of the engagement published on social media networks triggered immediate public criticism, according to newspapers.

The pictures showed the boy, wearing a necktie, placed the engagement ring in his fiancée’s finger before

the two grabbed each other’s arms.
"God willing, the engagement of my daughter Salma to her cousin Yousuf took place today…the wedding will be after their graduation," the girl's father Eid Al Banna said, according to the papers, which said many viewers criticized the engagement.
He did not make clear whether he meant their graduation from the university.
