Nigerian Army Sweeps North-West, Kills 10 Suspected Terrorists, Arrests Others

At least 10 persons suspected to be terrorists have been killed in the North-West region of Nigeria in military joint operations with code name – ‘Operation Restore Peace II’.

The arrested persons were said to be suspected terrorists and hoodlums.

Col. Usman Abdul, Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, Nigerian Army, Kaduna, while speaking to members of the press confirmed the successful attack by the Nigerian Army.

Abdul also said about livestock were reclaimed from illegal owners and rustlers who had terrorized the natives over time.

According to Army spokesman, “In Kaduna State and its immediate environs, the expanded security outfit involved in the operation have made recovery of 2,081 animals, like cattle, sheep and goats. 27 suspects were arrested and lots of weapons of different calibers were recovered from the bandits.”

An additional 3,027 more livestock were recovered in the Sokoto-Zamfara-Kebbi regions, he added.

“10 bandits were killed, eight assorted weapons recovered and arrested suspects handed over to the Katsina Police Command,” he added.

In a related development, the Chief of Army Staff paid a recent visit to the Nigerian troops in Borno, in a gesture of support as well as to help raise their morale in the ongoing war against terrorism.
