Caitlyn Jenner Named One of Glamour Magazine’s ‘Woman Of The Year’

Less than a year after she came out as a transgender woman, Caitlyn Jenner has been named one of Glamour’s Women of the Year, the magazine announced Thursday.

Branded the “Transgender Champion,” the 66-year-old reality TV star will be honored with her fellow winners at an awards ceremony in New York City Nov. 9.
Jenner won the distinction because “she made the decision to transition publicly — so that in the future kids don’t have to wait until they’re 65 years old to discover who they are,” Los Angeles LGBT Center rep Alex Schmider told the magazine.
“I started thinking, Maybe this is why God put me on earth,” said Jenner, who recently accepted the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the ESPYs and premiered her own E! docu-series, “I Am Cait.” “This issue has been swept under the rug for so long. I need to tell this story on the highest level you can possibly do it. Not just for me, but for this entire community.”
