A 35-year old man, Waheed Akinsanmi, was on Friday arraigned in an Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan for illegal possession of a pump action gun.
Akinsanmi of Fatai Akinsanmi Str., Monatan area, Ibadan, was arraigned on a five-count charge of conspiracy, threat to life, malicious damage, breach of peace and unlawful possession of a pump action gun.
The Prosecutor, Insp Ade Adebusuyi, told the court that Akinsanmi and others now at large conspired to maliciously damage an uncompleted building belonging to one Adewale Ayedun.
“The accused also threatened the lives of one Benedicta Adebayo, Solomon Adekunle and Ayedun and conducted himself in a manner likely to cause breach of the peace in the area.
“He was also found in possession of one pump action gun and eight cartridges without authority or licence,” he said.
The accused, the prosecutor alleged, committed the offences on Sept.18 at about 1 p.m. at Lalupon area of Ibadan, thereby contravening Sections 86 (2), 249(d), 417 (d), 451 and 516 A
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the offences.
Chief Magistrate A. A. Adebisi granted the accused bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
Adebisi ordered that one of the sureties must be a landed property owner while the second must be gainfully employed.
He adjourned the case till Nov. 12 for mention.
