We reported it here few weeks ago that the Secretary to the Government of Federation, Babachir Lawal in a statement disclosed that President Muhammadu Buhari reluctantly approved only N70 million for this year’s Independence Day celebration after complaining that he would have preferred the money is diverted for the payment of workers’ salaries.
He said the president had argued that the money was too much to be spent on frivolities such as celebrations when Nigerians are grappling to survive the present day economic realities.
Now, the Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El rufai, has taken to his Facebook page to draw up a comparison of the amount with the one spent in the last 4 years by the immediate past PDP led administration.
