Nigeria’s Home-based Super Eagles will be travelling to Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso tomorrow without Coach, Sunday Oliseh, for the second leg of the CHAN 2016 qualifier. He was flown to Belgium today following the deterioration of his health.
The NFF said: “Coach Sunday Oliseh has returned to Belgium to continue treatment after being advised by Eagles medics.
According to a tweet by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), via its Twitter handle, @thenff, the former Nigeria captain, became dizzy and weak after lunch today, and so had to be flown abroad tonight through the Port Harcourt Airport.
“He became dizzy and weak after lunch on Thursday and he travels abroad tonight through the Port Harcourt Airport.”
Oliseh joined his assistants after undergoing treatment in Belgium and was on the bench when the Eagles whipped the Etalons of Burkina Faso 2-0 in Port Harcourt last week, in their first leg African Nations Championship qualifying clash.
The home-based Super Eagles will depart Nigeria on Friday from Port Harcourt to Ouagadougou, the Burkinabe capital for the match on Sunday.
Toyin Ibitoye, Super Eagles Media Officer said that the team would depart aboard a chartered Arik flight.
“We are leaving by 6.30 p.m. on Friday. The flight is two hours and we will be back immediately after the game on Sunday,’’ he said.
The Eagles take a 2-0 lead into the game, after last Saturday’s first leg clash in port Harcourt.
Ibitoye however assured that the team was in high spirits with no injury worries.
“There are no injury worries. The only player out of the team is Solomon Kwambe who has been replaced by Etim Matthew of Rangers International FC, following his injury in the first leg encounter,” he said.
